Mexican Burrowing Toad - Sketch & Drawing

This is an original drawing of Rhinophrynus dorsalis! I’ve been using Photoshop since a long time, mainly to adjust pictures for web and printing, but this is actually one of the first time that I’m trying to color from scratch all on Photoshop… I did an original sketch and then added colors with Photoshop. I need lots of practice.

The Mexican burrowing toad can swell its body to a gigantic size (relative to its original one) when it is feeling in danger. Similar to a blowfish. Supposedly when its body is distended, the head almost disappears within the bulging bladder-like body!

This article on the Mexican Burrowing Toad clearly captures why I was drawn to it and decided to draw it. This is a nice read!
